Having grown up inside of stag (Sandwich Teen Action Group) from the time I was a little girl till now being 17 years old, I can personally say I’m honored to be a part of this foundation.   I’m especially honored that my very own father is the executive director of stag.    This organization has been going on for the past 17 years, and for the last 17 years of my life I’ve played a part in everything.   Inside of stag consists of a computer lab, kitchen, gymnasium, weight room, boxing ring, game room, TV room, and a homework program.  Personally the gymnasium inside the building was my favorite place to be.  I remember growing up I use to sit on the stag and watch the older boys play pickup games because I was too little to play.  Now that I’m grown up I find myself playing with them regularly.  I find it comforting seeing as I grew up with them all my life at stag and to still be close to them today.  My dad always says stag is like home.  I believe it 100% as I’m sure the community can say also.   The doors are always open and open to anyone for whatever reason.  I guess you can say walking through stags doors is like a breath of fresh air.  It’s a little break from life, a moment to just breathe a little, because you know that being inside that building … your safe and at home.  Stag is one of the greatest things that has happened to our community.    Stag is constantly giving and providing better each day to our community.  From the outings, the dinners, the block parties and more.  We should be so thankful to have a place like this.   Anyone could run a teen center, but John Elliott, the executive director, a boss, a friend, a family member, and most importantly my father.  I believe no one could ever be better to dictate stag then him.   He makes stag the place it is.  Sure everyone agrees that he’s big, mean and scary, but inside he loves the west end, understands what the west end is all about and has grown up  in the west end his whole life.  I couldn’t imagine not growing up at stag, I believe it’s a part of who I am today.  I am truly thankful to be a part of the Sandwich Teen Action Group forever.
